Artisan roasting simply means roasting coffee in small quantities, by hand and not using large computer controlled roasting machines. When roasting coffee "manually" more attention is given to the roasting time, the temperature and airflow to bring out the best flavor of the bean. Each coffee bean is different and can endure the heat of roasting differently.
Dieseldorff uses Arabica or Mountain coffee which is grown at higer altitudes making it endure the heat of the roasting process better. It was the passion of E.P.
